East and North Hertfordshire Hospitals’ Charity supports patients, families and staff across its four hospitals – Hertford County Hospital, Lister Hospital, Mount Vernon Cancer Centre and New QEII Hospital – by funding projects that are above the remit of the NHS.
One area that the charity is always keen to support is its cancer services and the wonderful medical teams that are caring for patients with cancer. Funds from the lottery will help them go above and beyond by providing extra equipment, support services and complementary therapies.
Hair loss can be one of the most traumatic side effects associated with cancer treatment. Lottery funds will help the charity provide scalping cooling cap systems which can reduce hair loss for patients having chemotherapy. Support, practical advice and headwear is also provided though the charity-funded Cancer Hair Care service.
Funds will also help provide complementary therapies such as acupuncture, massage and relaxation classes for patients and their families to help them cope with the diagnosis and treatment.
Being diagnosed with cancer is scary and upsetting and the treatment patients face can bring more worry. Lottery funds will help us make it a little easier for patients and their families going through that difficult time.
