Raise funded the refurbishment of the trust’s pastoral care suite to enable spaces of rest, relaxation and respite for staff, patients and their families at West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust.

The pastoral care facilities include memorial spaces across the trust’s three hospitals, including a memorial room and a memorial garden at Watford General Hospital, and memorial spaces at Hemel Hempstead Hospital and St Albans City Hospital.

An area at Watford General was also transformed by Raise into a memorial garden, which included the arrangement of inscribed benches, flowers and a place to add personalised notes of remembrance on dedicated trees. Raise also funded outdoor memorial spaces at Hemel Hempstead Hospital and St Albans City Hospital.

The pastoral care suite also includes rooms for counselling, meditation and reflection which are available for use by staff, patients and their families. Raise also funded stress relief, anxiety and relaxation devices.

The hospitals’ Deputy Pastoral Care and Chaplaincy Manager, Theresa Taylor-Brookes, said: “These enhancements Raise has funded will provide spaces of sanctuary for all at West Hertfordshire Hospitals during this challenging time and for years to come.”
