We are pleased to welcome Hillingdon Hospitals Charity to The Hospice Lottery Partnership. Through their support, they fund vital specialist equipment at Hillingdon and Mount Vernon Hospitals adding those extra touches that complement the services offered by the NHS.

Shirley Clipp, Major Appeals Manager explains, “We are hoping to provide a specialist garden for our patients who need rehabilitation. The outdoor area is designed for patients with neurological and complex conditions, including those learning to walk again or adapting to a loss of mobility.

“There are documented benefits of the increased recovery of patients who can experience nature and benefit from horticultural therapy. Just getting outside of the clinical environment where they may need to be for many months, raises spirits and gives a sense of normality, this is also comforting for the families of patients to be able to get outside with children and be together as a family away from beeping machines. The garden will have a safe resin-bound floor to enable clinicians to carry out therapy sessions in the garden.”

Money raised from The Hospice Lottery helps Hillingdon Hospitals Charity fund projects such as The Rehabilitation Garden.
