Kendall Green, 64, from Beaconsfield, has raised over £8,600 for South Bucks Hospice through an incredible 192-mile coast-to-coast walk, just months after battling cancer. Diagnosed with cancer of the tongue and neck in January 2023, Kendall was too weak to walk just six months ago.
From June 24 to July 7, he defied the odds, trekking from St Bees in Cumbria to Robin Hood’s Bay in North Yorkshire.
Kendall, a retired British Airways cabin service director, was joined by friends and his wife Jo on the 13-day journey. He had been planning the walk for years but decided to use it to raise funds for the hospice after receiving treatment there for lymphoedema.
“The hospice was so calm and welcoming,” Kendall said. “I’m still going there, and it’s a breath of fresh air. It’s a small charity doing amazing work for people with cancer or recovering from it.”
Kendall’s walk not only raised vital funds but also highlighted the essential care South Bucks Hospice provides to those with life-limiting illnesses in the local community. His determination serves as an inspiring reminder of hope and resilience.
