East and North Hertfordshire Hospitals’ Charity supports a wide range of projects across its four hospitals. One project that the lottery will help to fund is the support of patients with dementia.

Working with the clinical team, funds will provide items that make being in hospital a little easier for patients with dementia. From providing activity packs, CD and DVD players, to creating a ‘dementia bus-stop’ to help patients feel more relaxed in the unfamiliar setting, funds from the lottery will help provide items to support patients with dementia.

Ruth Bradford is an admiral nurse who works across all dementia services and ensures the hospitals are all dementia-friendly environments and said: “The clinical team and I work hard to care for our patients with dementia. The extra support from the charity and the funds from the lottery will help us provide items that help to improve the overall experience for people with dementia during their stay in hospital.

“CD and DVD players enable us to play music and films that bring back happy memories and the activity packs that are specially designed for people with dementia help keep them entertained and happy. Thank you to the lottery for helping us support our patients with dementia.”
