East and North Hertfordshire Hospitals’ Charity has recently funded two specialist wheelchairs to support patients recovering from a stroke.
These chairs are specially designed to provide the right posture and safety, enabling patients to move around more easily and with confidence. For many stroke patients, mobility is a vital part of their recovery, and having the right equipment can make a huge difference to their quality of life. Emma Bates, Clinical Service Lead for the Stroke Unit, explained, “The chairs are already making a positive impact. They are allowing patients to leave the ward with family in appropriate and safe seating. Thank you to the charity for funding them and making such a difference for our patients as they recover.”
This is just one example of how charitable funding helps patients across the hospitals. Eloise Huddleston, Charity Director, added, “The funding we receive from The Hospice Lottery is helping to make a positive difference to patients across our hospitals. From equipment like these chairs, to toys for poorly children; from services that support patients with dementia to refurbishments to inside and outside spaces, the funds raised make an incredible difference in our hospitals.
